Dr NGOUYAMNSA GHENMI Esther Maurelle, after obtaining her scientific baccalaureate, her wish was to deepen her knowledge in science because it has always been a passion.
She enrolled at the University of Ngaoundéré in the Faculty of Sciences in Chemistry. Three years later she obtained a degree in Chemistry; two years later a Master’s degree in Inorganic Chemistry and after five years of doctoral thesis she defended a Doctorate/Ph.D in Inorganic Chemistry. Whose theme was »Study of the effectiveness of some microbial flora in a process of treatment of slaughterhouse effluent combining adsorption with biodegradation ».
On the scientific level, her work focused on environmental protection through effective treatment of slaughterhouse effluent by combining biological treatment with adsorption. The interest and originality of her work lies in the capacity of the device used to ensure the elimination of pollutants contained in the slaughterhouse effluent by using a specific and selected microorganism, but also an activated carbon produced from Ayous sawdust.
Unlike many other women scientists, Dr NGOUYAMNSA GHENMI did not have any difficulties during her thesis because after registering for her thesis she had access to a laboratory which gave her everything in terms of equipment, reagents and even assistance.
Among the difficulties are those related to social stereotypes, but the young lady, in overcoming these, has shown dynamism, know-how, humility and hard work in order to make a name for herself.
